Day 24 of the Month of Tables
creating a new still life everyday for the month of November 2022

Daily Bread

Thanks for the food that sustains us and a light for a brighter world tomorrow.
As an American, I cannot help but have thoughts of Thanksgiving and family in my mind today. When I went to the bakery this morning, I bought three little quiches for lunches, thinking they may make a still life today. But it was the beautiful and simple bread that felt right. Michael Pollan once spoke about learning from food scientist Bruce German that with only flour and water separately, one would not survive long, but the magic alchemy of combining and cooking them makes a food that can sustain us indefinitely. That is much to be thankful for.
