creating a new still life everyday for the month of November 2022

I love the quiet palette of the first two days but when I decided to use the vibrant pumpkins I had (both bought locally and from my own garden) I wanted to fill the frame with rich color. So I had to drag this (rather dusty) brocante find onto my studio table. I’ve seen rugs used in still lifes before and their heavy weight gives so much volume and texture. The very last squash vine from the garden was cut for this too. After a 70F day yesterday, the temperatures are headed into something far more seasonal now and that means many things will finally let go in the potager. It is always bittersweet thanking them and letting them go.
