Day 6 - The Pocketful of Shells
I grew up on Maine's Atlantic coast. That is home. Now I live just near the Mediterranean coast. It still seems magically exotic even after 9 years here. But no matter the coastline they come from, our pockets and pails are always full of one more, just one more sandy treasure when we come back. Never is the last one like any of those that came before. All precious. I am not sure there could be something more redolent of summer that.
When my son saw this piece, he said it looked like it was on a ship and I was instantly whisked back to childhood day camps at @oldyorkhistorical making sailors valentines 💛
This piece was directly inspired by the stunning collection paintings by Balthasar Van Der Ast. He did many other variations on this theme and they merit a search to see them!
Museum-quality posters made on thick matte paper from Japan.
• Paper thickness: 10.3 mil
• Paper weight: 189 g/m²
• Opacity: 94%
• ISO brightness: 104%
• Paper is sourced from Japan
