Orchard Garden Flora Constellation
When we spent some time with family in Belgium this summer, soaking up every second of the glorious wild green that surrounds the house there, a balm after the parched golden south of France we had left, I couldn't leave without composing a #floraconstellations of the glorious bounty of the garden. Roses and hips and apples, wild blackberries and hornbeam, tiny wild strawberries that grow along the house and ferns in the wood.
Now stepping foot into autumn back home, we have been taking the elderberry and rose hip syrups I made from that garden and wood to support our bodies in fending of sickness and I spend a moment here and there in the mornings with the candles lit reading @beckycole 's beautiful The Garden Apothecary (ordered immediately when @baileyvantassel talked about it, reminding me I needed to get a copy!) and feeling the excitement of the possibility of all those plants. My own journey into understanding the vast resources of wild food and medicines around us is just starting but it feels like a wild silent world all around us that we have passed by for ages, not remembering the partnership it would give us, if only we looked. At the moment, I am quiet enamored with bright red hawthorn berries and trying to learn enough to put some to use this year before they are gone. I would love to hear about your favorite healing plant if you have one!
