The Card Game and The Cake - A Month of Tables Series Day 23 - Limited Edition Print
Composition
The Card Game and The Cake
This morning when I got up before the rest of the house, I pulled the pureed pumpkin I needed to use from the fridge and made our favorite (very easy) pumpkin cake, the house filling with the smell of spices as everyone begin their day. I thought maybe I could make a still life with the cake (before it was polished off tonight!). But it wasn't until I thought of a very special comment I received yesterday that the idea took shape. "Everyday it's like raising the curtain in the theater to an all new, hard to imagine spectacle!" Cake brought to a friend wrapped in brown paper, a game of cards, always clementines in the winter, something to sip, framed by the deep red of a theater-like curtain drawing down.
